  3. Digsby – Univarsal IM Client

August 17, 2009 by Robb Luther

Digsby on 12seconds.tv is a free IM client that I use to consolidate all of my contacts into one source. I initially only used Google Talk, but found that a lot of my clients used other IM clients such as AIM, Yahoo and MSN. Because of this I needed a solution that would allow me to communicate with everyone from one location. I found Digsby.

The Digsby Chat application is free to download and use.  They make money through some opt-in ads during the install.  If you don’t want to bog down your computer, simply don’t install them.  The other option they use to make some money is to utilize your CPU processor while your computer is idle.  This CPU time is leased out for research.  You can read more about this at the Digsby site.

Digsby also allows you to connect to social networks like FaceBook, MySpace & Twitter.  I also use a Digsby widget on the GeekEpic homepage so people can IM me.

love this little program. If you are a Firefox user, you know that you can rearrange the browser tabs in any order at the top of the page. This allows you to do the same thing on your Windows machine with your programs.
